What hours are you open?
The
Community Connections team works from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday. We are closed Saturday, Sunday and major holidays.
When will my obituary publish?
There
is a limited amount of space on our obituary page each day. Paid
obituaries and anniversary remembrances publish on the date requested
within deadline limits. Unpaid obituaries are published as a community
service on a space available basis. We strive to publish them on or
before any date of service listed in the obit. When there is no service
date mentioned, unpaid obituaries are published as space allows.
How much do paid obituaries and anniversary tributes cost?
$100
for the first inch and $65 each additional inch. Minimum size is 1 column x 1 inch. You can estimate 30 words
per inch. The heading is charged at approximately 1/2 inch and is not
optional. Photos are sized at 1 1/2” wide by 2” high.
All paid obituaries also include online guest books and are published with the following text referring readers to the online feature:
"Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonLive.com/obits"
Who writes paid obituaries?
Paid obituaries are written and submitted to the newspaper by people closest to the person who has died. Families and friends write their own tribute the way they want it to read. We edit for spelling, punctuation and Associated Press style.
How do photos get published?
Photos are optional in paid obituaries and can be submitted in black and white or color. They may be uploaded directly using our self-publishing tool, mailed, e-mailed as attachments or hand-delivered.
Unless specified, all photos will be cropped electronically to our specifications. Photos that are physically delivered to the newspaper will be returned via mail following publication, or we can hold pictures for you to pick up in the lobby following publication.
Photo Tips:
- Photos submitted as e-mail attachments must be in a jpg or tif format, scanned at a minimum of 200 dpi.
- Name the photo file you submit using the name of the subject in the obituary.
- For the best reproduction, photos should be larger than two inches square.
- Please submit vertical oriented (profile) photos
- The higher the resolution, the better the reproduction
- Larger photos, with room at the top, bottom and sides, allow us to showcase a quality reproduction of your photo
- Smooth finishes work the best if printed photos are being submitted.
- Please do not ever cut or crop your photo.
